A Message from the Head of School
On behalf of the Squaw Valley Academy Community, I would like to welcome you to our website.
I am very proud of the relationship I have had with the Squaw Valley Academy since 2005. I started as the Campus Dean and Director of Academics and was immediately struck by the difference that the dedicated members of our boarding school community made in the lives of our students. I finally found out what an excellent education looks like.
Accredited by the National Independent Private School Association, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and Advanced ED, our college preparatory curriculum provides classes which allow each student to achieve academic success. Personal attention and tailored academics are the basis of success for our students.
The average class size of eight encourages each student’s commitment in the learning process. Students who need extra assistance can be helped in our Academic Support Center, while our 15 Advanced Placement courses challenge students with college level material. Squaw Valley Academy’s greatest strength is it’s dedicated faculty and staff.
As Head of School, I am lucky to work with such an outstanding group of people. Each teacher and dorm staff embraces the life-style commitment necessary to serve our students in a residential environment. Our teachers serve as role models, who help our student go beyond themselves. I believe in our school mission of combining rigorous academics mixed with training in lifelong sports to foster self-esteem through real accomplishment. My door is always open to students, parents, faculty and staff.
Our website is informative but it cannot replace visiting our campus and meeting our faculty and students. I encourage you to contact our Admission Office and make an appointment to visit SVA. It’s a decision you will not regret. Good luck with your school search, and thank you for taking the time to learn more about Squaw Valley Academy.
Bill Grant, Head of School
