During the ski season, the academic schedule provides time each day for students to ski or snowboard at Squaw Valley USA. This gives students immediate access to world-class skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, and cross-country skiing. Developmental ski and snowboard classes, from novice to advanced, are available to help refine skills and the enjoyment of these winter sports. Competitive athletes have the option to join the Squaw Valley USA Ski, Snowboard, or Freestyle Team or other local competitive racing or freestyle teams.
Squaw Valley USA offers six peaks of moderate to advanced terrain, three terrain parks, a Superpipe, an Olympic-size ice rink, and some of the deepest snow in the world. Annual snowfall at Squaw Valley USA averages 450 inches (11 meters) per year, yet has 300 days of sunshine. Thirty-three lifts, including North America’s only Swiss Funitel and an aerial Cable Car, transport skiers and riders onto 4,000 acres (1,600 hectares) and 2,850 vertical feet (868 meters) of ski terrain.
