About Admissions at SVA
Squaw Valley Academy is a nationally acclaimed, college-preparatory boarding school with 90 coed students in grades 9-12. It is located in the beautiful Olympic Valley of California. Students live in spacious, modern dormitories that are supervised by faculty 24 hours per day. SVA offers rolling enrollment, which allows students to enroll during the school year. International students enjoy full English immersion and attend regular academic classes with their American classmates. While many SVA students are US citizens, SVA offers students an opportunity to experience the richness of cultural diversity that students from other countries offer. Over the years, SVA has hosted students from: Angola, Austria, Australia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Morocco, Norway, Poland, Russia, Scotland, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Turkey, and Vietnam.
SVA students receive the personal attention that only small classes can afford. They also attend faculty-supervised, evening study hall every school night. SVA provides students with rigorous academics, AP Courses (Advanced Placement), SAT Prep & TOEFL Junior, ESL, college counseling, and the Academic Learning Center. Squaw Valley Academy graduates have 100% University and College Acceptance. SVA is fully accredited and adheres to the approved, high-school curriculum provided by the University of California.
Outdoor Sports and Activities
All students participate in outdoor mountain sports and activities, though students must maintain their academic performance to do so. SVA students may also participate in mountain biking, rock climbing, hiking, golf, swimming, and rafting. During the fall, students may compete on the coed SVA soccer team. During the winter, students may ski or snowboard daily at Alpine Meadows ski resort or Squaw Valley ski resort. Both mountain resorts are less than 10 minutes from the SVA campus and offer amazing views of Lake Tahoe and some of the best skiing and snowboarding in the world.
Weekly Seasonal Activities
Each weekend, students enjoy supervised trips and seasonal activities such as rock climbing, swimming, skiing and snowboarding, or visiting museums, movie theaters, restaurants, amusement parks, and retail stores.
SVA accepts students each month of the school year (Rolling Enrollment) and students may attend for a full school year, a single semester, or one or both sessions of summer school.
