What a Wonderful Winter!
Squaw Valley Academy students and faculty are always thankful for major snowfall, and recently we had a lot to be thankful for! From Friday, March 11 to Monday, March 14, Squaw Valley saw nearly three feet of fresh snow, an adventurous way to round out the ski season. Juniors Michael and Ivan first learned to snowboard in November 2015, and both see big improvements in their skills. Michael told us, “I can now do a circular rail slide on a metal obstacle in one run.” Ivan’s improvement was more general, but very important. “Stability in general is what I improved on and doing tricks.” Michael is able to stick a 360, while Ivan can do a front flip. When asked what their favorite part of the season has been, Michael told us, “Powder days, the day right after a storm because it’s fresh snow which makes it more fun.”Ivan enjoys a sunny day, telling us, “Riding in extra sunny weather in the park, where they have jumps, has been my favorite thing this season.” Michael, Ivan, and the rest of the SVA family will be enjoying the late season snow while it lasts.
